2026 Leadership and Admin Team


Jake Esterberg – Corps Director / Program Coordinator


Jake Esterberg (he/him) is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, holding a Bachelors of Music Education. He now serves as the Elementary Band Director in Waconia, Minnesota where he teaches 5th Grade Beginning Band at three Elementary Schools and 9th Grade Band at Waconia High School. Jake is the Ensemble Director of MBI Indoor Percussion and Corps Director of MBI Drum and Bugle Corps.

Jake’s marching experience consists of 5 years of Drum Corps (Govenaires Drum and Bugle Corps, Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps, and Colts Drum and Bugle Corps), 3 years of Indoor Drumline (MBI Indoor Percussion), and 2 years of College Marching Band with the Blugold Marching Band where he served as the Drumline Captain and Percussion Arranger.

As a Marching Arts Instructor and Designer, Jake has taken a variety of roles with groups across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa, including MBI Indoor Percussion (2023 WGI PIW Semi Finalist), MBI Drum and Bugle Corps (2025 DCI All-Age Finalist), Colt Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps (2019, 2023, 2024 DCI Open Class Finalists), River City Rhythm Winter Guard (2023 WGI IA Finalist), the Blugold Marching Band, Minnetonka Marching Blue (YIM Outstanding Percussion 2A 2016, 2017, 2018), 728 Cadets/River Valley Percussion Theatre/RVWG, Big River Motion of Menomonie High School (MPA Winds Regional A Champion 2018) and Baldwin-Woodville High School (WSMA Class A Champion 2019, 2023, 2024, Outstanding Percussion 2019). Jake also currently serves on the Board of Directors for MPA.

As an MBI Alum, Jake is beyond excited for continued growth in 2026!


Nicole Salas – Assistant Corps Director


Nicole Salas (she/hers) has been an instructor at RCR Winter Guard since 2019, and is beyond excited to join the team at Minnesota Brass this summer. She began performing in high school with the 728 Cadets and River Valley Winter Guard. Once out of high school, she was a member of the world class winter guard Lux Independent, and is a charter member of River City Rhythm Drum and Bugle Corps. Nicole marched with MBI Winter Guard in 2017, taking home a silver medal at WGI in Independent A Class.

Nicole has taught at River Valley Winter Guard, 728 Cadets, Eastview High School Marching Band and RCR Winter Guard. When not at guard, Nicole enjoys reading, bowling, skiing and spending time with her husband and their three dogs.


Andrew Sims – Operations Manager


Andrew Sims (he/him) first joined Minnesota Brass (MBI) as a volunteer driver in 2023. With several years of experience providing professional driving services for Minnesota performing arts programs, including Eden Prairie Bands, River City Rhythm, and MBI. Andrew is now stepping in as the Operations Manager at MBI. His passion for the performing arts began at Brownsburg High School as a performer and continued through his involvement with the University of Kansas Marching Jayhawks.

Andrew has also contributed as a brass and visual tech for Pike High School Marching Devils, Franklin Central Marching Flashes, Del Rio Marching Rams, and Eden Prairie Eagle Marching Band. Outside of the marching arts Andrew serves in the United States Air Force Reserves as a C-130 pilot.


Katie Langer – Member Services Coordinator


Katie Langer (She/hers) earned her undergraduate degree from the College of Saint Benedict and her Master’s and Specialist degrees from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She currently serves as a school psychologist in North Branch, Minnesota, supporting students from birth through age 22.

Her percussion journey started in 2011 at River Valley Percussion Theatre. She has performed with Minnesota Brass for four summer seasons, most recently in 2024 where she was named Member of the Year for the percussion section. She has over a decade of experience teaching high school front ensembles across Minnesota, including Sauk Rapids-Sartell, Minnetonka, Champlin Park, and River Valley Percussion Theatre.

Katie is incredibly excited continue her support of the team at MBI and is passionate about finding ways to continue to enhance our members’ experiences.


Michael Palmer – Equipment Manager


Mike Palmer (He/Him) continues with MBI for the 2026 season supporting logistics and equipment management, leveraging together his extensive marching arts career with his experience as a seasoned trainer and team lead in distribution center operations.

Getting his start through a comprehensive marching career with Burnsville HS and River City Rhythm competitive drumlines, Mike also pursued a passion in education alongside his logistics career, supporting marching arts instruction at both Chops Percussion Indoor as well as SoWashCo Indoor and local high school ensembles.

Continuing this extensive career, Mike joined the MBI team for summer 2024 and hit the ground running with his support of the educational and logistic experience provided to members. Mike continued his logistical support of MBI ensembles into the 24-25 winter season, and is excited to come on board as equipment manager for the 2026 season of MBI Drum and Bugle Corps.

Outside of his involvement and passion for music, performing arts, and supporting the growth of others, Palmer loves the outdoors. In the off-seasons, he can often be found bike-packing or generally just riding a bicycle somewhere in the state of Minnesota, Or getting involved with community opportunities near where he lives in Minneapolis.

2025 Design Team


Dr. Kara Metzger – Brass Arranger


Dr. Kara Metzger (She/her) is originally from Waukesha, WI and currently serves as the Director of Bands at Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. At CMU, Kara teaches marching, concert, and jazz band. She also teaches applied trombone and courses in music education. She has earned a bachelor’s in music education and a certificate in adaptive music from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Kara earned graduate degrees from the University of Minnesota Duluth (MM-Music Education) and the University of Iowa (DMA-Wind Conducting). Whilst earning her graduate degrees, Kara was a teaching assistant within both schools’ band departments, teaching/conducting concert bands, assisting with the athletic bands, and performing many other supportive roles at both institutions. Throughout her time at the University of Iowa, Kara also served as Director of Symphonic Band at Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA.

Prior to her graduate work, Kara was the director of bands at Whitman Middle School and associate director of bands at West High School in Wauwatosa, WI, where she was responsible for middle school concert bands and jazz ensembles and assisted with all high school ensembles. She continues to engage with high schools by being active in writing drill, choreography, arranging, and clinicing for numerous high schools and colleges throughout the country.

Since 2016, Kara has been working at the Colt Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps and has served as brass and visual caption head for them since 2017, brass manager in 2024, and will become the drill writer in 2025. She has also served as a baritone technician at the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps since 2020. She has held additional staff positions at the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle corps for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. For 2026, Kara will also assume the role of hornline designer for the Minnesota Brass organization. She is also an active low brass player and enjoys performing whenever she is able.


Anthony Gilleland – Front Ensemble Arranger


Anthony Gilleland is a performer and educator based out of Northern Kentucky. He is currently the Percussion Director for Ryle High School in Union, KY where he teaches percussion methods, lessons, and marching ensemble rehearsals. He also designs for many ensembles in the TriState area.

Anthony is currently on the front ensemble staff at the Mandarins. He has also been involved with groups such as Carolina Crown, The Cadets, Blue Stars, Pulse Percussion as well as the design team for George Mason University Indoor Drumline.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in percussion performance from California State University, Fullerton, and is an Educational Artist with Vic Firth and Zildjian.


Rebekah Salas – Colorguard Designer


Rebekah Salas(She/Her) brings a background in color guard from the Pacific Northwest. She started teaching in 2002 at her alma mater then various high schools throughout the Puget Sound. During those years, she also performed with the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps, Full Circle of the Sound, and Rhapsody Winterguard. In 2014, she moved to Minnesota, where she began teaching after taking a hiatus. Although, she has had the privilege to teach/direct at multiple schools/organizations throughout the Midwest, she has dedicated most of her time to RCR Winter Guard and is excited to once again join the design team this summer with MBI.


Joel Matuzak – Visual Designer


Joel Matuzak (He/Him) has degrees from St. Cloud State University and Concordia University Saint Paul. He has been the Director of Instrumental Music at Highland Park Senior High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota since 1997. Joel was the Program Coordinator for Minnesota Brass from 2003-2019, and Percussion Caption head from1997-2021. During his time with MBI, the corps won four Drum Corps Associates Percussion titles, and was the 2011 DCA Open Class Champion. Joel was the Design Coordinator for the MBI winter percussion ensemble, an Independent Open Winter Guard International 2011 Silver Medalist and 2012 WGI World Class finalist. Joel is also the Director of the Sköl Line, a Drumline for the Minnesota Vikings NFL franchise, and the Minnesota Wild Stickhandlers Drumline.

Joel is highly regarded as an arranger, drill writer, clinician, and adjudicator. He has taught and written for numerous high school, drum and bugle corps, college, and professional Sports organizations. Joel is an alumni of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, member of both the Minnesota Percussion Association and Minnesota Brass Hall of Fame, and a 2012 inductee of the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame.


Justin Mons – Design Consultant


Justin Mons is an Arizona native, and has been involved in the marching arts for 16 years as an instructor, adjudicator, and visual designer. After marching 7 years at The Arizona Academy, he joined the visual staff at the Mandarins. Justin served the Mandarins as a field tech in 2013, Assistant Visual Caption Head ’14-’16, and ‘17-22 returned back to a lead field tech position. Justin also spent a part of the 2015 summer on visual staff for the Academy. Most recently in the 2024 season, Justin was on the visual staff for the Blue Knights, and was the Drill Designer for the All Age Class A champions, Govenaires.

In the world of indoor percussion, Justin served as Visual Caption Head and was a designer for Vision Percussion 2017-2020. During his time with Vision he helped them grow from Independent A to Independent Open, and became WGI San Bernadino regional Finalists in both the A and Open. During his time with Vision, they also took Winter Guard Arizona (WGAZ) gold in A class 2016, Open class ’17, ’19 and silver in Open ’18. Justin has also been a visual analysis judge for the WGAZ circuit from 2018-2020 and MPA from 2021-2024

During the fall Justin has worked with multiple medalist and championship groups in Arizona, Minnesota, and the Houston/Katy Texas areas. These groups include Corona Del Sol HS (Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA)) medalists and BOA regional Finalist), Basha HS (ABODA Finalist and WGAZ medalist), Millennium HS (ABODA finalist), Vista Grande HS (WGAZ medalist), and Gilbert HS (ABODA state champions).  James E. Taylor and Clear Creek High Schools in TX, and Hutchinson and Eastview High Schools in MN.

Justin will soon be completing his BA in Organizational Leadership (Project Management) from Arizona State University. In his off time he enjoys attending Twins and Vikings games, musicals, and any theater production his partner Mandy Rae is directing.

2026 Percussion Team


Emalee Judeh – Caption Manager


Emalee is a Twin Cities resident born and raised where she began her marching career at Eagan High School. She found a strong passion for the marching arts that led her to an early performing career as a member with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps and Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps. After high school, Emalee moved to Southern California and was a member of Pulse Percussion as well as the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. Emalee’s teaching career would begin at POW Percussion in Southern California and she eventually moved back to Minnesota to teach at Rosemount High School, and MBI Indoor. Emalee is currently residing in Eagan with her longtime partner Austin, their two dogs Bruce and Teddy, and is excited to join the MBIDBC team for the 2026 season!


Michael Finney – Caption Manager


Michael Finney continues his support and development of the MBIDBC percussion program for the 2026 season. Michael is a St. Paul-based program development consultant and marching arts educator with more than 10 years of success in building and empowering Minnesota communities through music education. Michael got his start in the marching arts through highly competitive programs at Coon Rapids HS, from which he gained the skills needed to march five years with MBI Drum Corps and MBI Indoor Percussion, as well as spending a partial season with the world-class ‘Academy’ Drum Corps. Following his performing years, Michael served both MBI, Chops, Inc., and scholastic programs around Minnesota as an instruction team member and program developer while pursuing a leadership career in disability services. Leveraging his extensive background in education, disability services, and program development, Michael is humbled to continue his support of MBI’s growth for the 2026 season!


Anson Hanna – Coordinator


Anson Hanna graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Manufacturing Engineering. Currently, he is working as a medical manufacturing engineer and is pursuing a Master’s of Business Administration (Leadership & Management) at St. Cloud State University. Alongside his career, Anson has worked with various schools and programs with his most prominent being the director, arranger, and designer for the Dassel-Cokato High School Marching Arts programs, (2021-Present).

Anson has marched with Minnesota Brass Drum & Bugle Corps from 2022-2025 and the Minnesota Brass Indoor Drumline for the 2022 & 2023 seasons. He also performed in Shadow Drum & Bugle Corps’ 2021 virtual production, and started a drumline program at St. Cloud State University where he instructed, lead, and arranged music for the ensemble.

After concluding his time as a performer within the marching arts, he has since began playing drumset and gigging with a local band. Anson is excited to join MBI this summer as the Batterie Coordinator!


Jack Weber – Snareline Instructor


Jack Weber started his marching career at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School in 2017 and was in Marching Band and Indoor Drumline until graduating in 2021. Jack went on to spend his summers at River City Rhythm Drum and Bugle Corps (2021 – 2022), The Academy (2023), and Carolina Crown (2024). He spent all of his winters from 2022 – 2025 with MBI Indoor as well as the 2025 summer with the MBI All-Age Corps.

Following his age out, Jack joined the MBI Indoor Percussion instruction team while teaching with the Sauk Rapids HS marching arts programs. Jack is excited to continue his growth with MBI for the 2026 season!


Ian Gesmundo – Tenorline Instructor


Ian Gesmundo is a student at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he is pursuing two bachelor’s degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He grew up in Buffalo, MN, where he was a member of their indoor drumline and parade marching band in 2022 and 2023.

Since then, he has marched at MBI Sound Sport 2024 for their transition season, as well as MBI Indoor Percussion in 2025 and 2026, and RCR Drum and Bugle Corps in 2025. He has also participated in UMD’s percussion ensemble from 2023 – present.

Besides marching, he enjoys spending time outside, photography, and spending time with friends. Ian is very excited to join MBI as a quad technician this summer!


Sam Kallevig – Bassline Instructor


Sam Kallevig (He/Him) started his marching career in 2015 on bass drum with Minnetonka High School and his love for music and the activity has been growing ever since. He went on to march with Chops Percussion Indoor and Chops Drum & Bugle Corps from 2016-2018. Sam joined the Minnesota Brass family in 2019, aged out in 2022, and continues his involvement with the organization today. During the winter season, Sam has worked as a bass drum technician for 3 seasons with the South Saint Paul indoor drumline, and 2 seasons with the Dassel Cokato indoor drumline. During the summer season, Sam dedicates his time to Minnesota brass. This will be his third  year instructing the bass line for the summer program.  

Outside of rehearsal, you can find Sam enjoying nature, playing video games, experiencing foreign cuisine, and spending time with his dog, Gary!


Gus Wiitala – Bassline Instructor


Gus Wiitala started his marching career in 2014 with the 728 Cadets. After highschool, he went on to march with River City Rhythm and most recently MBI drum and bugle corps for the 2025 summer season. Gus has taught with many high school ensembles and earned a degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Gus is excited to join the MBI team this summer the 2026 season!


Lindsey Preston – Cymbal line Instructor


Lindsey Preston started her marching career at Irondale High school where she marched from 2016-2020. Since then, she has gone on to march Cymbals at MBI from 2022-2024 and at Music City Mystique for her-age out in 2025. In the past, Lindsey has taught Cymbal Lines at Irondale High School, River Valley Percussion Theatre, and the 728 Cadets. Following her first season working with the MBI Indoor Percussion instruction team, she is excited to support MBI for the 2026 season!


Vlad Boz – Consultant


Vlad Boz is a proud alumnus of South St. Paul High School, where he participated in the marching band and indoor drumline 1997–2002. He also marched with the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps (2001–2002), the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps (2004–2006), and the Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps (2003, 2007–2008). He has been teaching South St. Paul High School since 2009, Rosemount High School since 2011 and Minnesota Brass since 2010, in addition to having taught several other local groups in the past. And he’s been president of the Minnesota Percussion Association since 2015. Vlad has a degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota and works in marketing and communications. In his spare time, he enjoys petting strangers’ dogs and writing his bio.


Isaac Steffen – Consultant


Isaac Steffen started his marching career at Farmington High School (2015-2018). He then went on to do Chops Drum and Bugle Corps (2016, 2018), Chops Percussion Indoor (2016-2017), Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps and Soundsport (2017, 2019, 2023, consulting for 2024 and 2025), MBI Indoor Percussion (2019-2022, instructing for 2024 and 2025), The Cadets (2021-2022), and Rhythm X (2023). He has also been the bass tech at Eden Prairie High School since 2019.

Aside from Band, Isaac likes to play video games, hang out with friends, cook tasty food, and pet his cat, Nathan. He is very excited for this upcoming season, and can’t wait to clean some beats!


Sophie Seegar – Front Ensemble Instructor


Sophie Seegar grew up in Farmington, Minnesota, and started performing in the Farmington Tiger Marching Band in 2015. After graduating, Sophie went to Minnesota State University Mankato, where she got a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and participated in the Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and continued marching with the Maverick Machine for three seasons. She continued her marching career, marching with MBI indoor percussion for two seasons, aging out in 2025. 

Sophie has taught with multiple ensembles such as the Farmington Tiger Marching Band, Rosemount High School Marching Band, Lakeville Area Percussion, and is excited to be joining the MBIDBC team for the 2026 season! Sophie currently teaches Elementary Music in Lakeville, Minnesota.


Sierra Appleby – Front Ensemble Instructor


Sierra Appleby is a Twin CIties based artist and educator with a rich background in percussion performance and education. Originally from San Jose, California, Sierra moved to Reno, Nevada, to pursue an education in music. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance and spent the following 3 years focusing on teaching percussion throughout the Reno area. She taught a range of ages while teaching a multitude of genres, including marching and classical percussion, most notably working with the Pride of the Sierra Wolf Pack Marching Band. She also had the opportunity of playing drum set in an all-women’s jazz band named Sapphire Jazz.

After her time away from academia, Sierra chose to further pursue her education in music. She recently enrolled in the music program at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and is working towards her Master’s in Music Performance. Here she plans to expand upon her knowledge and hone her skills as a musician and a teacher.


Andy Nguyen – Front Ensemble Instructor


Andy Nguyen is a percussionist from Anoka, MN. He began his marching career as a member of the Anoka High School front ensemble in 2018. Andy currently lives in Nashville, TN. As a performer, Andy marched with the River City Rhythm Drum and Bugle Corps (2022) and the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps (2023-2025). In WGI, he performed with River City Rhythm indoor percussion (2019-2024), MBI indoor percussion (2025), and Music City Mystique (2026).

Outside of the marching arts, Andy enjoys solving puzzles and is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota. Andy will be moving back to Minnesota in Spring 2026 and is looking forward to being a part of the MBI percussion staff.


Jackson Weinberg – Consultant


Jackson Weinberg grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He started marching with chops from a young age and would complete 5 seasons with them before continuing onto Minnesota brass, where he marched 9 seasons with their multiple ensembles, before aging out with the Colts drum and Bugle Corps in 2024. Outside of the marching arts, Jackson received a formal education in orchestral percussion and has led multiple local bands in varying genres and styles from jazz to metal. Jackson now owns RedEyeExteriorCleaning.com, where he provides exterior cleaning services with an emphasis on environmental sustainability and community development.

2026 Brass and Visual Team


Paul Terry – Brass Caption Manager


Paul Terry is currently in his 23nd year teaching in the Osseo Area School District. Hehas served as a 5th grade band director for the past three 3 years, middle level directorfor 13 years, and high school director for 6 years. One of the things that Paul especially enjoys is traveling with students and getting the opportunity perform in wonderful places such as Disney World, Los Angeles, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii.

In addition to his role as a teacher, Paul is also an active union member and lead contract negotiator for Education Minnesota – OSSEO. Paul is an active instructor in the marching arts with local high school bands and nationally. He helped to create and instructs for, WGI finalist Grove Area Percussion of ISD 279. In his time in the marching arts he has also served as a brass staff member for The Colts Drum and Bugle Corps, Brass Caption Head for Shadow Drum and Bugle Corps, Visual Caption Head for The Seattle Cascades, and multiple roles on the brass team for DCA World Champion Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps, where he currently sits on the board of directors.

In his spare time Paul enjoys golfing with his daughter Shea, CrossFit with his wife Nancy and watching movies with his couch potato greyhound Vicki. Paul holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and a Masters Degree in Music Education from Boston University.


Kyle Ballou – Brass Caption Head


Kyle Ballou (he/him) is a graduate of the University of Minnesota- Duluth with a bachelors degree in instrumental music education and, has a certification in Orff Schulwerk from University of St. Thomas. He is now currently an elementary music teacher in the Anoka-Hennepin district at Ramsey elementary and Wilson elementary.

On the side he works with the 728 Cadets marching organization as a horn technician with the summer marching band and the winter group known as River Valley Sound. Kyles marching experience consists of marching with the 728 cadets high school marching band, Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle corps, and River City Rhythm drum and Bugle corps.

Kyle’s goal as a marching educator is to give the best marching experience to my members while also pushing them to be the very best they can be, and is excited to bring his talents to the brass caption head role for the 2026 season.


Ryan Colins – Visual Caption Head


Ryan Collins grew up in Andover, MN. He marched trumpet/mellophone for 6 years with Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps between 2010 and 2016, including the Open Class DCA World Championship winning season in 2011.

For the past 16 years, Ryan has been a marching arts instructor/designer in the Twin Cities Area. During that time, Ryan has worked with Andover, Blaine, and Anoka high schools as a visual/brass tech and visual caption head. He has also been on staff with MBI Winds since it’s first year in 2023.

Ryan graduated with a B.S. in Computer Information Technology from Minnesota State University Moorhead and currently works as an IT Infrastructure Specialist for an enterprise software company. He lives in St. Paul with his wife, his 2 children, and his dog.

Rebekah Salas – Caption Manager/Designer

Rian Mahoney – Co-Caption Head


Rian began his professional marching arts career in 2016 marching with various DCI and WGI organizations throughout his tenure as a performer. Through DCI, Rian marched as a mainline weapon for the Colt Cadets, Colts, The Academy and The Blue Knights as well as Royal Guard and MBI during the WGI season. Taking time to learn from the best of the best as he grew his personal performing skills and developed his personal instructional styles and philosophies.

Throughout his performance career, Rian was also Directing, Designing, Choreographing and Teaching for many programs throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. Rian Began his Directing Career with The River Falls Marching band, growing their team from 11 guard members to 37 in just 2 years Leading them to 6 consecutive State Championship First Place Guard awards. He quickly added the Farmington Tiger Marching Band to his directing roster, growing their guard from 8 to 34 members in 2 years and leading the team to their programs first ever First place and Outstanding Colorguard awards at Youth in Music. Rian has also joined the Eastview Marching band as their Colorguard Director in recent years.

Rian started his Winter teaching career with the Lakeville winterguard as a tech and choreographer where he learned all about design, choreography, logistics and rehearsal styles. Using that experience he created the Farmington Winter Guard receiving multiple mid-season promotions, growing from just 9 members their first year to 24 their 3rd season. Rian can also be found assisting many programs throughout the state with all things from basics, to choreography, to design.

Rian’s particular instructional style has a primary focus on education and lasting professional growth both in and out of colorguard, often taking the time to truly break down all components of work to their fundamental levels and explaining the why in all things. His goal when instructing is to create educated and respectful performers who can go on to self improve through a deep and focused understanding of the physics and theories behind all things colorguard and beyond. Often taking the time to explain why and how the design of a show works and finding any opportunity to tie colorguard ideas to real world experiences and lessons that students can take into their professional lives.


Katie Hoflock – Co-Caption Head


Katie Hoflock is excited to join MBI for the 2026 season as a co-caption head for the colorguard after a long marching history with the corps. She first joined in 2013 where the corps took home the bronze medal at DCA Championships, and remained with the group in 2019 and 2022-2025 as they performed with DCI Soundsport, before joining MBI on the field in 2025 as they returned to All-Age competition.

Katie has taught at Robbinsdale Cooper High School, and currently runs the winter and summer programs at Two Rivers High School. In addition to performing and teaching, she is a member of the Board of Directors for both the North Star Colorguard Circuit and here with Minnesota Brass. 

During the week, she is an office and events senior specialist for  Boston Consulting group. In her (rare) free time outside the guard community, she enjoys all things creative including reading, sewing, painting, and staying active running and cycling.
